On Friday 20th of June we are going again to Jökulsárgljúfur, because we did not go to Selfoss yesterday. This time we are going to try western road. Then we are going (again :-) ) to geothermal fields of Námafjall. This time with cameras.

Then we are going to check out surroundings of Mývatn (depends on weather), go to Goðafoss and finally to reach Akureyri.

Road to Jökulsárgljúfur

Quality of road was similar to one we used yesterday, but this time we hit traffic jam - some old guy with his car was blocking whole lane (road) for few kilometres.

It started to snow, later we came to Mars - landscape looking exactly like photos from NASA. I kid you not. Check for yourself.

Look, there was water on Mars once! How to explain that canyon otherwise?

And there are even some lifeforms there!

Selfoss

This is not town Selfoss where earthquake happened some time ago. This is waterfall of the same name in north-east Iceland. And I bet it is nicer than town! (I do not know for sure, we went another way, so we have not seen it).

Notice small people on the left side of waterfall and you can get an idea how big it is.

Mud

That mud, nicely carved mud, near Selfoss fascinated me. If you like it as much as I do, do not forget to check out more of it on next page :-) This might be the first time when something that fascinates me does not look like food to me ;-)

This one looks like a mud model of waterfall! Just turn water on, I am ready with my camera... oh, no they are waiting for me (again!) - gotta run :-(

Detifoss

The glimpse of Detifoss from other bank. Unfortunately edge of cliff was not accessible and rather slippery.
