Norway Day 3 - beautiful fjords and mountains
Added: September 07, 2008
I appologise for tons of photos here. I just could not edit them tighter.
Road to Geiranger
We know we have to catch ferry at 12:00. There are only 2 ferries going to Valldal, other one at 17:15. Thus we cannot afford to arrive later as we did yesterday in case of Nærøyfjorden. Result is that we stop only ocassionally.
Lom
Lom is village close to Bøverdalen. It's main attraction is stave church. It was on our route hence stopping here was no brainer.
This was taken before arriving to Lom, but I am not going to introduce a new section for just one unnamed photo :-)
We learned there are more attractions on location apart from stave church. Beautiful too.
Ofossen Mølle
Short stop at the old mill. Again I forgot to take its complete photo and concentrated on surroundings :-)
It is not used as mill any more. It is centre for rafting and similar attractions.
Road 15 & 63
We are continuing by road 15 to the west. We are getting to higher altitude in the mountains. They remind us West Tatras and Rohace in Slovakia :-) Wind is getting stronger, temprerature lower. Cloud cover is total again.
Change in mountains is good sign of getting closer to Geiranger.
Down to Geiranger
Before reaching Geiranger we need to go down about 1000m with help of serpentine road. During our photo stops (unfortunatelly not enough, because there are not not many places where stopping is allowed) we found a lot of blueberries and I've learnt about crowberries :-)
In case we missised our ferry we would use those serpentines in mountain opposite and drove to Valldal there. I am sure it is attractive route too, but we had time for getting to Valldal only once.
We are on time - ferry is not there yet!
