Not only that, we went to beach on our first day in Tenerife - in the afternoon after visiting Auditorio de Tenerife.
Playa de las Teresitas is only 7km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is very nice, with golden sand imported from Sahara. Water is quiet thanks to wave breaker.
If only the weather was better... Windy, cloudy. Peter and me went to water several times, Zuzka only once. It was too cold to her. On the other hand she got some photos of the beach with sunshine, while I got some only after we decided to leave due to clouds. I just keep my camera hidden if I cannot guarantee it will be attended and watched for whole time. It usually means taking photos before coming to beach or after. Sometimes I wish I had "disposable" point&shoot camera ;-)
I was waiting for about 10 minutes here, hoping the sun will peek at least a bit. Yes, it peeked a bit, but not to cast a shadow from the palm.
The beach is narrow strip with nice mountains raising from it.
Thanks (again) for Peter's interest in geocaching we went to the top of nearby hill. He looked for the geocache and we looked down to beach. And we looked also at very nice cacti (not many photos today, there will be more opportunities later too).
Following photos also show how unpredictable the weather is at the North of Tenerife. Short periods of sunshine with (probably) long periods of clouds. Or at least in May. Or just when we visit...
Now it is shining. Well it is too late. But this photo is not bad too. If just there was bit more space at the bottom, instead of the side of the hill...
Do you see that ugly black patch next to surf? This is how beaches on Tenerife look like if they don't get blond makeup.
Quite dangerous slope. But is it because of its height and steepness or due to cacti?
We are going to rainforest tomorrow. I really hope there will be some sun rays in fog there too. They just don't seem to be well placed over the beach.
