Eilean Donan, Loch Ness & The North West Highlands - Day 1
Added: May 30, 2008
For those wondering what title of previous post means, here is short explanation: loch - lake, glen - valley, ben - mountain, sun - scarce resource in Scotland :-)
If you did not read previous post, I will try shortly to summarize it: All three days were fantastic!
Morning
I've split this day to two pages, because I plan to show many photos. Morning and Afternoon is my best try to name them accordingly (hey, it's Friday night now).
Trip started about 15 minutes later (I do not know whether it was trafic problem between Edinburgh and Glasgow, but they probably waited for somebody in Edinburgh). Full of expectations, hoping that morning cloud cover will vanish soon we sat into our coach and our trip begun.
Even before we left Glasgow my head was full of information, fortunately I am not interested in whisky and Glasgow, thus I could make place for information that interest me. Still I was not able to remember everything I wanted :-(
Loch Lomond & Luss
Loch Lomond is the biggest mass of fresh water in UK. We spent 15 minutes in conservative village Luss at its shore. More pictures of Loch Lomond will be at Day 3.
Driver-guides from Timberbush exchange their first impressions about their new passengers :-)
Gary, with kilt, is ours.
Tyndrum
We had lunch here, we stopped here sooner than expected, because driver needed mandatory break. Heavy clouds are history, greenery starts to be wonderful.
Gray area is former gold mine.
Black Mount
(Updated) Unfortunately I do not remember name of this place. I have only two orientation points - it was before Rannoch Moor and there were many cars in parking lot, everybody stops there.
After some browsing I was able to locate this place better (and to be sure about it). It is from parking lot at Black Mount, with outlook of Beinn Achaladair, Loch Tulla, Stob a' Choire Odhair and Stob Ghabhar. This breaktrough was caused by Zuzka insisting she needs names to print her collages and by finding http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk.
Glen Coe
Beautiful, wild and bloody valley. We had nice stop here with short walk. Plenty of time to get many satisfying photos.
We came from that direction.
Hands off my girlfriend, pretty boy! (No, really, Gary was kind to pose for us)
Loch Leven & Loch Linnhe
These two lochs have salty water, because they are connected to sea. I am really happy with these photos. You will see more photos of Loch Linnhe later.
Loch Linnhe
Gary, I am well aware you asked us to stay on left side of bridge due to trafic. But Loch Leven seemed so much more photogenic than Loch Linnhe. Better light, nicer clouds. It would be pitty if only picture I could take was this.
I just had to cross the road... (and nobody was hurt during shooting these).
