Seychelles - north of La Digue

We have visited 2 beaches at the northern end of La Digue. It is quite far from Belle des Iles and it can get tedious when you walk at noon. But don't worry. When you reach a cemetery, you are on the right track. Anse Sévère is just around the corner.

Before we get to the beach, there is one photo from those I like very much, but I don't have enough opportunities to take. It was quite close to cemetery, but smoke was coming from the other side. I guess it was just a coincidence that somebody was burning something.

Anse Sévère is nice sandy beach with boulders are each side. It has many Takamaka trees to relieve you from direct sun. But water is quite shallow near the shore. I did not swim too far, that would take much time and I wanted to explore those boulders!

We've been there on Saturday and one end was full of locals. They had some party with games, with loud music and loudspeaker used for commenting their efforts. They were cooking something too. It smelled nicely.

I've spent less time at the other end of the beach. I am not sure if I wanted to avoid that party or there were to many people in water or I was just satisfied with sights at the other side. So I did not take any photos from water level. Just some from the road to Anse Patates.

After being satisfied with photos of Anse Sévère I went to Anse Patates. It is quite close, only a few photos away. Well, never underestimate how many photos I can take while walking for 300m. Situation gets even worse, when I need to get back throught the same route. Of course it looks different every time I walk there. Setting sun, hiding in clouds makes it so.

Anse Patates

Anse Patates is small beach with nice boulders. There are some hotels around and I don't understand how all those people fit into such small beach :-)

This place is at north-eastern side of island so it offers interesting, somehow moody, look when sun is low in the evening and clouds are present too. I liked it probably more than how it might look with sun high in the blue sky. But I am just guessing.

Lonely Planet says this place lacks wow factor. I would say, wow factor is definitely there, but just check following photos yourself.

Return back to hotel

I have returned to Anse Sévère just for nice sunset. That means we walked to Belle del Iles in darkness again. Because of the distance we decided to take taxi. Unfortunately we did not see any in La Passe. I would say taxi drivers were either enjoying Saturday evening themselves, or they were preparing for surge of customers later during night.

I was so satisfied with this trip, that I jokingly said to Zuzka: "I would not care if it started raining now until end of this trip. I have already got wonderful photos and I am satisfied". That was big mistake I started to regret next morning :-)
