« Eilean Donan, Loch Ness & The North West Highlands - Day 2 | Iceland trip is over » |
You can review our complete trip in Scotland here 3 sunny days with Lochs, Glens and Bens. Link to tour is here http://www.timberbush-tours.co.uk/glasgow_tours/one_day/loch_lomond.html.
Loch Lomond, Luss, Balloch
We are again at Loch Lomond, this time the weather is better. This is the only place where these two tours overlap.
First stop was at Luss, today we have more time than on Suturday. Then we moved to Balloch to attend boat cruise.
Maybe you have wondered about little bottle of whisky on the overview post. This picture shows how it was created. I am breaking my own rules now, because this photo was not taken by me and even worse - it is from Canon! I hope it does not make any kind of precedent to my blog... BTW, bottle was part of tour deal.
Our driver-guide Patrick on this tour.
We are on boat, cruising Loch Lomond waters. Rather windy.
Ben Lomond is visible in distance. Loch Lomond got its name from Ben Lomond (Beacon Mountain).
Fancy hotel.
Youth Hostel. As the members of Hostelling Association we should probably go to check it from inside, but there are much nicer places in Scotland with their own YHA hostel.
Aberfoyle
We stopped here for lunch. Minted Lamb Casserole was delicious! (photo not shown)
The Trossachs
The Trossachs is regarded as 'Highlands in miniature'. No serious stopping, only twice :-(
Panorama as seen from Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
Stirling Castle
We were looking forward to see this castle for some time and we were not dissapointed.
Castle is associated with many famous people like William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots.
This was our final stop before heading to Glasgow Airport. Our flight home was passable - a lot of turbulence and rain. We learned that it rained heavily in Cardiff whole Monday. Quite unbelievable, after 3 wonderful sunny days in Scotland!
Chapel Royal. Strange colors in windows were caused by polarizing filter. I did not unscrew it, because I forgot the case and I did not have place to store it safely.
National Wallace Monument on the hill opposite to castle.
